Reviews
"The Concrete Flower Series is a fantastic set of books for young children. Each book offers a valuable lesson (saving, making friends, peace, etc.) but is done through unique storytelling. My daughters have found these books not only interesting, but they love the imagery and get to learn some great concepts/values that will support their long-term personal growth. Highly recommend!"
-Natasha Bagchi BASc MBA, Former Healthcare Segment Owner, CIBC Business Banking & Mother of Two"The Concrete Flower Series offers an accessible way to talk about important and often complex ideas (for example community, finding voice, self-care, etc.) with children. This unique series is a special and valuable journey which parents and teachers can use to walk alongside their children and spark conversation about matters of the heart."
-Kiera Bailey MPH, Senior Project Manager, BC Ministry of Children and Family Development & Mother of Two"This sweet collection of books features fun characters and layered stories that offer many opportunities for exploration of important and complex aspects of life. The colourful artwork and easy to read stories make this collection enjoyable for adults and children alike. The questions at the end of each book are helpful for parents or teachers to guide conversations and encourage children’s critical thinking and reflection."
-Meredith de Freitas BA MPH, Project Manager, BC Children's Hospital & Mother of Two"The Concrete Flower Series is a thought-provoking way for children to connect to the world they live in. While children will enjoy the colourful illustrations and stories, adults will also appreciate the relevance of the content. These books will engage children and will create a thirst for more learning. Few children's books are as relevant as the Concrete Flower series."
-Russ Ford BJourn BSW MA, Former Executive Director of LAMP Community Health Centre & Father of Two"Ipsita Banerjee’s plant base story telling informs the reader of the intensity of calling seed impulse carried within the dreams of our Chakra. [...] Ipsita engages crystals with colour coded for each plant base chakra to help them meet during the journey in life to achieve her goal by handiwork of positive self - love by her plant base artwork for all."
-Dr. Rodrick Lal MA Ph.D, Mental Health Therapist, and Phoebe Morrow, 10-year-old student"Wonderful encounters of characters in these books, the colors and images are simple yet vibrant. My favourite part is the questions at the end of the book to help the child share what they may have learned and perceived in the story. There are powerful messages of interconnectedness, the unseen world (respect for underworld in book 2), and environmental/ ecological stewardship that are seamlessly woven into the story line."
-Shirin Kiani BSc OT MPH, Inclusion and Accessibility Specialist, UNICEF"The Concrete Flower Series has helped me start an open dialogue in my home on emotional intelligence and resilience. It has been incredibly powerful to teach my daughter about the complexities of the world through relatable characters and situations. I highly recommend these vibrant and impactful stories for homes and classrooms."
